Questions We Get a Lot
None of the locks in this collection require a paid subscription for core remote access. Wi-Fi models connect directly to your home network and are controlled through their manufacturer app at no recurring cost. Check each product listing for any optional premium features that may carry a fee.
IP65 or higher is the standard benchmark for a lock mounted on an exterior door — it means the housing is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. IP66, which some locks in this collection carry, adds resistance to stronger water jets. Both ratings are appropriate for covered entryways and most exposed door frames in temperate climates.
Most smart locks in this collection include at least one offline backup method — typically a physical key override or a temporary PIN stored on the lock itself. Some models also support emergency charging via a 9V contact on the exterior face. The product listing for each lock specifies which backup methods are available.
Vantage Lodge offers a 30-Day Return window. If a lock arrives and is not compatible with your door prep or existing deadbolt bore, you can initiate a return within that period — refer to our Return Policy for the full process and any conditions that apply.
About Our Smart Locks
A smart lock replaces or augments the keyed cylinder on an exterior door, giving everyone in a household a way to enter that does not depend on carrying a physical key. The practical problem they solve is straightforward: keys get lost, copies get handed to people who should no longer have access, and nobody wants to get out of their car in the rain to find the right one on a full ring. Smart locks address this by moving access control to credentials that can be added, changed, or revoked from a phone. When choosing one, the details that matter are the IP rating — which tells you how the lock is sealed against weather and dust — the unlock methods it supports, whether remote access works without a recurring fee, and whether the lock fits your existing door preparation without requiring a new bore. Aluminium alloy and reinforced zinc are the common housing materials; both are appropriate for exterior use. Battery life and backup entry options are worth confirming before installation, particularly for a primary entry door.
